As a discount house, our
core activity is securities trading, with treasury bills
and other approved government securities constituting,
the largest component of our securities holding. Hence
we are the best source of treasury bills investments of
any tenor or maturity. We can provide treasury bills of
maturities ranging from the full tenor of 91 days
(obtainable from the primary market) to 1 day (i.e.
secondary market transaction).
Open Buy Back (OBB)
– This is a deposit product that involves outright
transfer of treasury bills of equivalent amount to a
bank in consideration for the deposit placed with ADH.
The transaction can be as short as 1 day (overnight) or
as long as 91 days. Being an Open Buy Back, the bank can
call for its deposit at anytime by returning the
treasury bills to ADH.
Secured Placement
– To enable both
parties enjoy some flexibility regarding the maturity of
treasury bills offered in consideration for a deposit
from a bank, a pledge, rather than an outright transfer,
of the bills may be made. This transaction is referred
to as a secure placement with the mode of the exchange
of treasury bill securing the deposit as the only
feature distinguishing it from an OBB.
Repurchase Agreement
(REPO) – A
repurchase agreement involves the sale of an instrument
with a commitment to buy it back at a future date. A
repo is used by an institution to raise a bridging
finance. Similarly a reverse repo is entered into by an
institution to invest its surplus funds by purchasing an
instrument coupled with a commitment to sell same back
at a future date.
As a primary dealer Central Bank of Nigeria's Open
Market Operations (OMO)
ADH is able to offer the best rates to treasury bill
investors, and also offers the best terms for the
rediscounting of treasury bills should the investor have
a sudden need for money before the treasury bill
investment matures.
Public Sector
Investment Notes (PS Notes)
– An investment product through which government
agencies and parastatals can invest in treasury bills
and eligible commercial bills mostly issued by the
leading companies in the productive sectors of the
economy.
Associated Commercial
Bills Scheme Investment (Tenored ACBIS)
– The ACBIS is a dedicated pool of investible funds into
which investors contribute. The funds are deployed
towards satisfying the working capital requirements of
credible and properly constituted companies in the
commercial, manufacturing, telecommunications, oil and
gas and similar sectors of the economy. The companies
are usually of good standing and their obligations must
command investment grade status. Commercial Bill is the
generic name for the instruments (frequently called
Commercial Paper or Bankers Acceptance) such companies
execute as evidence of the facility obtained.
ACBIS Investment can be held for redemption at will,
that is, at the customer’s instance, Call Investment, or
after a fixed period determined at inception, fixed
Investment. Both kinks of investment can have the
interest paid at the inception or at maturity of the
investment.
